FRENCH LANGUAGE BOOK. This encyclopaedia dedicated to the uniforms and equipment of the infantrymen — called " Grenadiere " at the end of the war — of the Waffen-SS became essential for researchers, historians, collectors but also the very numerous enthusiasts of the history of the Second World War. Indeed, since the "troops at disposal" and Hitler's personal guard, the LSSAH , the evolution of uniforms has been considerable. Historical publications present us with a small part of the thousands of photos available in the archive funds. But their descriptions are often very thin. A photo showing a "grenadier" wearing a 1943 effect cannot have been taken in 1941. This encyclopaedia will allow us to understand these evolutions. The historian, thanks to this work, will have the opportunity to date certain photos more precisely, according to the appearance of certain effects in the units and their use.
This third and final volume concludes the study of the uniforms worn by the Waffen-SS grenadier. It includes chapters dealing with the camouflage veil and the face mask, tent canvases, the camouflage cap model 1942, camouflage uniforms model 1944 and model 1945, belts, shoes, the emblem of sovereignty, collar tabs, shoulder tabs, ranks and function insignia as well as sleeve bands. The collector now has, and for the first time in French, a veritable encyclopaedia aiming for exhaustiveness that will become the reference, a considerable work that he will be able to consult according to his discoveries in order to enable him to identify and authenticate them.
