Zimmerit—love it or hate it—remains one of the most distinctive and misunderstood features of mid-war German armoured vehicles. Applied in 1943–44 to protect against magnetic mines, this paste gave tanks such as the Panther, Tiger, and StuG their iconic ridged finish. This new title from AMMO is the most comprehensive resource to date for modellers and historians alike. Part historical study, part practical modelling guide, Zimmerit walks you through what it was, how it looked, and—crucially—how to recreate it accurately in scale. Inside the Book, Historical Overview – The development, usage, and factory patterns of Zimmerit, backed by wartime photos and thorough research. Full-Colour Reference Images – Clear photos of actual vehicles show pattern variation, texture, and application techniques. Modelling Section – Step-by-step guides to applying Zimmerit using different materials and methods, painting it authentically, and adding convincing weathering effects. Whether you’re building a Tiger I, Panther Ausf. G, or a Zimmerit-coated StuG, this book will help you get it right, down to the last ridged smear. Essential reference for modellers striving for historical accuracy and realism in their builds. Includes dozens of high-quality images, clear instructions, and expert insight from two of the most respected names in the field.
