Step into the fascinating world of the Mi-24 Hind, the pioneering attack helicopter that, due to its exceptional performance, heavy payload and extraordinary adaptability, became a symbol of Soviet engineering prowess. With stunning photographs capturing its entire service life, Mil Mi-24 Hind: The Iconic Soviet and Russian Attack Helicopter charts the remarkable journey of this unique aircraft, from its origins as a versatile attack model in African, European, Central American and Asian conflicts, including Afghanistan, to its enduring legacy in the current war in Ukraine. It examines, with detailed analysis of engineering decisions, the development of the Hind and its various modifications, starting with the early provisional Mi-24A model through to the Mi-35M export variant and high-speed PSV demonstrator.
Discover why the Mi-24 Hind has been adopted by a third of the world’s militaries—no other helicopter has been used by more countries or in more conflicts—and understand how its ability to operate under any conditions revolutionized Soviet military aviation. Whether you're an aviation expert, a history buff, or just someone interested in knowing how a single helicopter design has influenced battlefield tactics on a global scale, this is a book for you.
