The Weathering Magazine - AFV Essentials is more than just a compilation—it’s a carefully chosen collection of the best content from The Weathering Magazine, handpicked by Mig Jiménez and focused entirely on military vehicles. This comprehensive guide provides essential chapters on painting and weathering, featuring clear, step-by-step instructions for techniques refined over years of modelling experience. From priming and base coating to camouflage, chipping, filters, washes, streaking, dust, dirt, rust, mud, and realistic oil and fuel stains—each technique is explained in detail and accompanied by real-world reference photos that clearly illustrate how these effects look on actual vehicles. The book also features three comprehensive build articles that illustrate how to apply these techniques cohesively and artistically across various armoured vehicles. These case studies help animate the methods, providing practical insight into integrating effects for optimal realism. A dedicated section highlights the innovative ATOM paints, a new advancement in the modelling world that offers enhanced realism and user-friendly application. To facilitate the transition, a conversion chart is included to match ATOM colours with traditional AMMO acrylics. More than just a tribute to The Weathering Magazine, AFV Essentials is a modern, updated resource designed to inspire and assist modellers of all skill levels—from experienced hobbyists to newcomers. It also signifies a milestone in Mig Jiménez’s legacy, consolidating years of knowledge and artistry into one essential volume.
