FRENCH LANGUAGE TITLE. n 1942, the commissioning by the Germans of the Panzer VI Ausf. ETiger brutally obsoletes the KV heavy tanks, which were totally outdated in terms of firepower. The Soviets then began an arms race which gave birth to the famous IS-2 equipped with a 122 mm gun and a range of powerful self-propelled guns. But if this machine is the most famous representative of the "Stalin" family, it is far from being the last since at the very end of the conflict the IS-3 and IS-4 will be launched. And heavy tanks hold an important place in the Soviet arsenal, because throughout the Cold War, many new models will be studied. If only one is produced in series, the IS-8 renamed T-10 because of de-Stalinization, the multiple concepts imagined will sometimes lead to rolling prototypes, some of which are out of the ordinary like theObjekt 279 and its running gear made up of 4 tracks!
